Rules of Engagement

On a first note, Congrats Amy!
Her and Kyle are engaged. :3

She mentioned it was a "Hey, we should get married" kind of thing.
Which is like how it happened with me and Sean.

I mean, come on. We were walking towards Fred Meyers in the parking lot.
It was the morning after the company Christmas party for ACHC/SKW, which we were out in Alyeska for.
No down on his knee. No ring.
Just "Hey, we should get married."
And a "Yeah, we should."

Which makes me think.
Why do we expect the Hollywood engagement?
The dramatic yes or no, the "special moment."

People say it's traditional that way.
But think of it this way, that's a modern tradition. Traditionally would be an arranged marriage when you're what, 13? Or running off to elope with some bandit on a stallion, or to be bought off from your parents.

That's "traditional."

I know. Hollywood has the whole razzle dazzle effect, throwing glitter, sequins and drama into everything to throw off from the main point.

And yet, people still expect the dozen roses in hand, a black box containing a ring, and a handsomely dressed man on his knee with musicians in the background.

I think I would have just been weirded out by it.
And I don't expect that from him.
I expect him to be who he is.
And a man from those dirty little novels every mom reads isn't him.

I guess if that's your digs, then go for it. I'm not saying it's wrong in any way.
It worked out for me how mine went, as I got to pick out my own ring.
Mm.. Tiffany.

But my name is Amanda Stone.
And I was engaged in a Fred Meyer's parking lot, on December 16th, 2007.

Busy Busy Bee..

I ordered some personalized napkins off the internet. Haha.
I also ordered some purple candy, need to find some green..

And uhh. Hm. what else have I been doing..

Fixing up the guest list, trying to get it finalized with addresses, names, number of attendants..

Making a list of music for the DJ..

I've been so busy without being busy at all. o_o

Never enough time in a day.

Funny..

So my cousin Nicole told me something funny yesterday.

She mentioned I looked like I could be Neo Queen Serenity in my dress.
If you knew me growing up, you'd know why I said something.

Haha.

I could make it into a Halloween costume once I was done with the wedding. o_o'

And sugar we're goin' down swingin'..

Aha!

So. Lots of stuff done lately.

Paid off the cake. ( i'll put in pictures of everything once I go home.)
The cake is from Superstar.
http://www.spdak.com/

It's gonna be 4 tiers, the bottom and top layer being regular white wedding cake, cream cheese filling buttercream icing.. the whole deal. The second tier will be my favorite coffee, and the third will be one of our favorite ice creams.

Thought I was gonna give it away, huh?!

Some of you know what they are, anyways. If you really wanna know, ask me.

The cake will be covered with fondant ( fancy fancy!), and will tie in our colors, as well as our heritages. I'm excited.

Now, for the photographer, I've chosen Mitch Kitter.
If you don't know him or his work, you should.
http://www.kitterphotography.com/index.php
I love his style, I love his work, and I'm so glad for Vince referring me to him so long ago.

I'm going to need model releases from everyone in the wedding party, and those under 18, you'll need your mom or dad's signature. I'll pass around the model releases once I get around to it.

Another thing, we've chosen the place. Bayshore Clubhouse.
http://www.bayshoreclub.org/
I'm pretty happy with the place. Now I just have to figure out how the set-up is going to be, how the wedding will go, just more things to worry about. @_@

Lastly, found a DJ.
We are going to go with APE ( Alaska Professional Entertainment)
http://www.gowithape.com/
I met with Martin, and he was very professional, and seemed like he knew what he could be in for and what his responsibilities will be, and more. I was very pleased with our meeting.

Now, I've got to get a list of songs together, and yes, I am going to put a list of songs down that I don't want to hear, either.

Sorry kiddies, no cha-cha crap.

ps. The date is set. June 26th, 2009.

I need..

..to make a post, but I've been so busy! Next one'll be a good'n though.

So..

I think we've found the place.

Bayshore Clubhouse.

We'll definitely have the reception there, not sure about the ceremony. Still need to find an officiant.

Back the the venue, though. If you've never been there, we'll be overtaking the main front room, which has a dance floor, a kitchen with two ovens and microwaves and a huge fridge and counter space, a deck, and there is a bridal room up a set of curling stairs.

They have tables available, and chairs, and we are able to bring in decorations before-hand and set up that day. I don't think I'll have time to do it, but I'll find someone to, and .. yeah.

I'm more than definitely going to have a potluck sort of event, people bringing in food, y'know.

Tomorrow I'm meeting up with my possible, and more than likely going to be, photographer tomorrow. I'll post about it if all goes well.

And here it is..

..the preview of the dress. I won't show the full dress, if you want to see it, go to the wedding, or give me a call.

I love it. I absolutely love it.

I first saw it on David's Bridal's web page, and loved it there. I was surprised when we went to the store in town to see it was actually there, and in my size..! I loved it seeing it in person, and I loved it when I got to try it on.

It's perfect for my form, it's gorgeous on me, and I still get a little flustered when I try it on for people.

I called my mom when me and Sean were there ( yes, he's seen it. He's mentally blocking the image from his mind.) and she helped me get it on one of their credit cards. 1, to help me get credit, and 2, to get the dress then. Maybe switch the numbers around, haha.

I also got the veil and headpiece while there, and they match beautifully.

btw.. still looking for a venue! The PFD and energy money coming in this month will help out put down deposits on things that need to be done. Still need bridesmaids dresses, as well..
